Spotlight On Our Holly Oak Coaches: Sergio Hernandez & Fabiola Gonzalez

We want to shed a spotlight on someone whose dedication and passion truly embody the spirit of community and mentorship. Coach Sergio Hernandez and Coach Fabiola Gonzalez have been making waves in our community by generously donating their time after school to ignite the dreams and goals of our youth.

"Being a coach for the past few years at Beat the Streets Bay Area in the Evergreen School District allows me to give back to my community and share my love and respect for the sport. I love mentoring and connecting with my students, and love seeing them grow as athletes and students. I hope what they learn on the mat transfers to school, home, and life."

-Coach Sergio Hernandez

Coach Sergio: A Beacon of Inspiration

Coach Sergio Hernandez is not just a coach; he's a beacon of inspiration for countless young individuals. Witnessing him in action, one can't help but be moved by the passion and care he brings to his coaching. As a coordinator in the Beat the Streets Bay Area community, I've personally seen the spark in his eyes as he imparts not just wrestling skills, but also life lessons and values to his students.

His dedication goes beyond mere instruction; it's about shaping the character and future of the next generation. Coach Sergio embodies the values of perseverance, discipline, and teamwork, instilling them into the hearts of each wrestler he mentors.

The Heart and Soul: Assistant Coach Fabiola

Behind every great coach is a team of dedicated individuals, and Assistant Coach Fabiola is a shining example of this. What makes Fabiola's story truly remarkable is she has no background in wrestling. Yet, she brings something equally valuable to the table: a nurturing spirit and unwavering support for each wrestler under her care. She is devoted to learning the sport and you better believe she is in each of her students’ corners cheering them on, coaching loud and proud.

It's a testament that being a great coach isn't about being elite in the sport yourself, but rather about your ability to inspire, mentor, and uplift others to reach their fullest potential. Coach Fabiola understands the power of mentorship and the impact it can have on shaping young lives. Her dedication to the growth and well-being of the athletes she mentors is truly commendable.

Everybody can be great because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.
