Beat the Streets Bay Area hosts Benefit Concert with Jewel

Headlined by the singer songwriter and artist Jewel, Beat the Streets Bay Area hosted an extraordinary Benefit Concert earlier this month that raised funds to sustain and grow youth programming around the Bay Area.

The wonderful evening celebrated our organization's mission to empower and transform youth through the sport of wrestling with keynote speakers Rob Koll, head wrestling coach at Stanford University and Brian Guerrero, Board of Directors Chairman for Beat the Streets Bay Area. Through the generous pledges of so many in support and proceeds from the event auction, our organization raised critical funds to grow programming in Oakland for this Spring season by 20%, and the goal to expand to a third bay area city in the Fall.

The audience was captivated by Jewel's storytelling interwoven with her musical performance where she gave a personal testament to the transformative power that wrestling can have on young women. Sharing a personal story about her respect and admiration for her dear friend Tela Bacher, a 2004 Olympian who was in attendance, exemplified what wrestling offers as a life-changing experience.

The event brought together coaches, athletes, donors, and advocates to support the incredible mission of Beat the Streets Bay Area. We are grateful for this community of support and inspired to serve many more kids in the years ahead.
